Benefits of Enrolling your Children in Preschool

preschoolSome parents find themselves wondering if they should enroll their child in preschool or simply wait until they are of the age to enroll in kindergarten. I am a firm believer that children should attend preschool where applicable and available. Enrolling your children in preschool is something that is beneficial to their upbringing and overall wellbeing. A good preschool has been said to prepare children well for kindergarten and even the world beyond. The dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education believes that children gain a lot from attending preschool and that there is evidence of this. Preschool allows children to become familiar with: numbers, letters, shapes. This gives them a good basis to go on when they reach kindergarten.

Further she says that the social aspect of preschool is good for children. Not only do they learn how to socialize, they learn how to get along with others, share, and hopefully contribute to different projects or games they may be expected to do. Another PHd in the field has said that children who attend preschool enter kindergarten already with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and and stronger basic math skills. This is because they are exposed to them in preschool versus going to a day care where they simply play all day long and aren’t intellectually challenged and grow their developing brains. Furthermore, preschool is beneficial because it teaches children how to become students. They are taught to raise their hands, take turns, and share the attention of the teacher with others. Another interesting benefit is that children will better be able to separate from mommy if they attend preschool. Often in a daycare there’s a care giver who is a big associate to mommy in that she just looks after them and plays. Even putting your children in dance classes or things like that can’t substitute for preschool because often mom is still there. Going to preschool creates students who are more independent.

These are all great benefits of preschool, but what typically do children learn in a preschool setting? They will learn to strengthen their socialization skills. This happens by children learning to share, compromise with others, be respectful of others and learn how to better problem solve. They also learn how to be more self sufficient and capable human beings. They learn how to pour their own juice, help set the table, and learn how they want to choose to spend their free time. Sierra Preschool & After School is a great option of where to send your children. They offer an academic creative learning experience for your toddlers before they head off to kindergarten. The classrooms are designed and decorated age appropriately and help to lend to child development. Their philosophy is to provide a variety of learning experiences in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. If you ask me, this sounds great in order to have a place for children to go to learn and grow.
